Welcome to Terp Housing Exchange (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website and services. By accessing or using the site, you agree to comply with these Terms.
1. Platform Overview
Terp Housing Exchange is an independent housing subletting and exchange platform operated by students, for students. We are not affiliated with the University of Maryland or any other university or institution. We do not represent or speak for any university and we do not act on their behalf.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a current student or community member with a valid university ID to use this site.
3. User Content
You are solely responsible for the content you post, including listings, messages, photos, and contact information. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content for the operation and promotion of the site.
We do not control or endorse user content and we are not responsible for its accuracy, legality, or appropriateness. We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to review, remove, or disable access to any content at our sole discretion.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to post, upload, or share any content that:
- Is unlawful, fraudulent, or misleading
- Is harassing, abusive, hateful, or discriminatory
- Contains threats or incites violence
- Infringes on intellectual property rights
- Contains personal or confidential information about others without consent
- Violates any applicable law or regulation
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. In serious cases, we may report misconduct to your university or relevant authorities.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

The services and content on Terp Housing Exchange are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the site will be secure, error-free, or available at all times. We are not responsible for any user content or for any damages resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the site or any user content.
